Beaufort Park Dental Surgery has four dentists, one dental hygienists and two dental therapists. Between them, they provide dental care for around 7000 patients.
We rely on a wide support team of dental nurses, reception staff and a practice management team made up of full and part time staff. We focus on developing our team to help provide the best care possible so many of our team are trained to facilitate or provide portions of your care, from managing your patient journey to taking X-rays and impression.

Focusing on implant and aesthetic dentistry, Russell combines a Masters degree in Cosmetic restorative dentistry with Invisalign and implant practice – combinding the various techinques to produced the best cosmetic results while minimising the effects on the natural teeth.
As well as working to keep the practice at the leading edge, Russell particularly enjoys working with anxious patients and offering an overall relaxing experience when providing care.
Russell is also a member of the Academy of Medical Educators, and works as a Clinical Supervisor in the teaching hospital in Cardiff, helping to guide the development of the next generation of dentists and providing mentorship for graduate dentists in the practice setting at BPDS.
Outside of work Russell enjoys spending time with his wife (our manager) and children. He is an enthusiastic hockey player, playing outfield and in goal for Whitchurch Hockey Club in Cardiff and for the Welsh Masters [insert ever increasing age group here] hockey team. He umpires and coaches for the youth and senior teams at Whitchurch and Gwent Hockey clubs in his spare time.

Dr Laura Davies has worked as a general dentist in at BPDS since 2016. Laura has a background in both general practice and in a hospital setting. She is especially interested in minor oral surgery 🦷

What’s your favourite part about your job?
🗣 “I like designing and milling my own crowns. I also enjoy mentoring the foundation dentists and guiding them on their first year in general practice. Although I definitely don’t like the paperwork that comes with it!”
What do you like doing outside of work?
🗣 “I enjoy spending time with friends and having a cheeky G&T!”
What is one fun fact about yourself?
🗣: “I can play the saxophone and clarinet” 🎷

Dr Cassie Jo Evans has worked as a general dentist at BPDS since 2022. Cassie has a background in healthcare, working as a healthcare support worker & nursing assistant whilst at university. She has experience working in psychiatric hospitals, secure units, supported living and on hospital wards. She also spent time working in A&E and intensive care through the Covid pandemic.
Cassie completed her foundation training at the practice in 2023, then decided to stay on as an associate dentist. Cassie is also an advanced facial aesthetics practitioner, providing cosmetic treatments to patients at the practice.

What’s your favourite part about your job?
🗣 “I enjoy spending time getting to know my patients and ensuring I provide a relaxed environment for treatment. It’s so rewarding when patients, who were initially too anxious to sit in the dental chair, become comfortable enough to have treatment done and leave with a smile on their face!”
What do you like doing outside of work?
🗣 “I do competitive bodybuilding so spend a lot of time at the gym. I love hot yoga and find it great for destressing. I also enjoy long dog walks with my miniature schnauzer, Milo”
What is one fun fact about yourself?
🗣: “I’m ambidextrous! And I can say the alphabet backwards!”

Alex started with the practice in and is our has a clinical practice limited to oral surgeon. Alex also teaches undergraduate students at Cardiff dental school.

🗣 “Giving patients positive extraction experiences and working with many different teams in multiple sites teaching and performing oral surgery.”
What do you like doing outside of work?
🗣 “I love all things outdoors be it gardening, hiking, outdoor swimming or walking my miniature daschund. I love to travel and enjoy experiencing different cultures and sunnier climes too. I’m currently learning Spanish and am aiming to run a marathon early next year”
What is one fun fact about yourself?
🗣: “I have climbed Kilimanjaro!
BPDS is accredited as a “Dental Foundation Training” (DFT) practice. DFT are specially selected to offer a supportive environment to aid support the development of recently graduated dentists. DF dentists are fully qualified but have chosen to further develop the the DF program under the guidance of a more experienced dental mentor. Russell Gidney and Laura Davies are appointed as mentor and will offer advice, support and supervision for patient care.
DF dentists are on a fixed 1 year contract with the practice. Patients treated with the DF can expect the a change of dentist after September before being allocated to one of our associate dentist’s patient lists. Quality of patient care remains the main priority at all times
Dental Therapists provide full care of teeth and gums, offering cleaning, routine fillings and total care for deciduous (milk) teeth. You may be referred to our therapist by your dentist for some or all of your treatment or for your routine assessment
