Offering National Health (NHS) dental treatment of the highest standard has been a priority for BPDS since we opened in 2007. As well as Chepstow residents, we provide NHS dental care for patients from Caldicot, Magor, Undy and Rogiet, as well as further afield in Newport and England. As a new NHS dental patient you would be registered under standard, national NHS terms of service. NHS dental treatment prices are fixed, however it is worth noting for those in Gloucestershire and Bristol, that Welsh NHS charges have remained fixed since 2006 and are significantly lower than you would pay at an English dentist.
To register as a new NHS dental patient with Beaufort Park Dental Surgery, please phone the practice on 01291 624515. You will be registered once you have attended an assessment appointment.
NHS dentistry is government subsidised, provided treatment “to secure and maintain oral health” Most dental treatments are available to NHS patients with prices being paid based on a fixed fee for the band the treatment falls under – the remaining cost being paid by the government. There are restrictions on dental treatments that can be offered on the NHS. However, for those treatments not available and for more cosmetic alternatives you can elect to pay privately for selected parts of your treatment. For example, many patients prefer to have cosmetic “white” fillings rather than metal fillings or see the hygienist privately to remove staining.
Band 1: £13.50 – “Basic treatment” – Examination + X-rays/Scale & Polish only if needed
Band 2: £43.00 – “Simple intervention” – Band 1 treatment + necessary Fillings and Extractions and Root Fillings
Band 3: £185.00 – “Advanced treatments” – Band 1 & 2 treatments + Dentures, Crowns & Bridges
These prices are based on the Welsh NHS regulations and are lower than if your treatment is provided in England.
Some patients are fully or partially exempt from paying NHS dental charges. This makes no difference to the treatment that is offered to you but it is important to provide evidence of your exemption as early as possible, ideally at your assessment visit. If you do not you will have to pay, then claim the money back from the relevant authority.
The practice holds an NHS (GDS) contract with the Aneurin Bevan LHB – Monmouthshire Locality Office. The contract is held by Beaufort Dental Care Limited.
