Laser therapy provided by Sandeep Kamath – an associate specialist dermatologist working in the Royal Glamorgan Hospital – Bridgend. Providing specialist practice in Laser treatments.
Tattoo removal works by laser light passing through the outer layer of skin and being absorbed by the pigments of the tattoo. This causes the pigments to break down sufficiently that they can be removed by the body. The treatments depends on colour difference between the tattoo and the skin. Dark tattoos on light skin will respond best – multicoloured tattoos may respond differently for the different colours.
The treatment only takes a few minutes for a session and is uncomfortable – but most people do not need an anesthetic Most tattoos take 4-10 treatments to remove. After the treatment the area will need a dressing for a week and needs to be kept out of the sun for 6 weeks.
Laser treatment is safe, with virtually no medical contra-indications. There is a small risk of scarring post treatment (around 1 in 20) which can be minimised by following some simple advice.
Cost varies on the size and colour of the tattoo. For information on treatments, prices and a free “e-consultation” email a photo of the area to lasertreatment@chepstow-botox.com.
